Paul founded AFP in 2002 following the merger of Walmsleys Financial Services, with his own IFA practice. He has been an IFA since 1994 he holds the Chartered Insurance Institute Financial Planning Certificate as well as advanced qualifications in investments and pensions.

Paul has worked in financial services since 1982 initially within the banking sector before progressing to become an IFA.

Outside of business Paul is Treasurer of the Wigan and District Cancer Research Committee and was Chair of Finance at Standish Community High School for eight years until stepping down in 2008. He is a member of Wigan Golf Club.

Paul joined AFP in February 2010. Before this he was a Financial Adviser and Stockbroker with Edward Jones Ltd for 4 years. He also presents seminars to companies around the North West on behalf of The Pensions Advisory Service.

Paul attended Byrchall High School in Ashton-in-Makerfield and Winstanley College in Wigan and then went on to study to degree level at Nottingham University and as a Post-Graduate at Manchester Metropolitan University.

Paul holds the Chartered Insurance Institutes Certificate in Financial Planning & Long Term Care Insurance and is currently studying for his Diploma (passed Pension Funding Options October 2009).

He is a member of The Personal Finance Society, Wigan Rotary Club and founder member of Just Networking - Wigan.

Outside of Financial Services Paul is a keen musician. He achieved Grade 8 (Distinction) on the Violin and in 1999 was the winner of the British Reserve Insurance Conducting Prize. He has been Musical Director of Trafford Youth Philharmonic Orchestra since May 2000 and of Opera74 in Bolton since October 2008.

Peter joined AFP when the company was formed in November 2002. Prior to that he worked in the IFA Division of Walmsleys Insurance Brokers Ltd in Wigan. He holds the Chartered Insurance Institute’s Financial Planning Certificate.

Peter’s career has always been in finance, starting as a junior with the Burnley Building Society at their Head Office in Burnley, to becoming in 1990 the District Manger based in Wigan for National & Provincial.

Peter is a past President of Wigan Rotary Club and a past Chairman of Thornton Cleveleys Round Table. He is currently the Chair of St. Maries CAFOD in Standish and a season ticket holder at Burnley Football Club.
